About Me

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

For almost my entire life I have lived in Eastern Iowa. Growing-up in Waterloo, and attending college 10 minutes away, familiarity is something I have always been accustomed to. In the fall of 2011 I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and was ready for something new. I made the move to the BIG CITY of Des Moines shortly after I graduated. I was 120 miles away from anything familiar, but this single decision was met with so many incredible blessings.

I accepted a job with Wells Fargo when I moved to Des Moines, and while this was not my dream job it brought me to the city I wanted to explore. Growing up in a Christian home I have always been taught to give back to the community. I was very involved in my church and volunteering growing up. I knew I eventually wanted a job that allowed me to give back, but as a twenty-two year old, having my first grown-up job was exciting in itself.

A series of events, that fell together just perfectly, allowed me the opportunity to go to South Africa with Blessman Ministries last fall. This was the biggest leap of faith I had ever taken, and I am so thankful I did. I went into the trip with no expectations. During those twelve days my eyes were opened to the hardships children and adults face daily and my heart was forever changed.  One year later I am currently raising support to become a full-time missionary with Blessman Ministries, Inc.

My departure date is January 09, 2015. In the field, some of my responsibilities will include: working with short-term mission teams from the United States, feeding orphaned and vulnerable children, and meeting the physical and spiritual needs of a community that is desperately in need.
